I.    Introduction:
a.    WHY should we put on the full armor of God?
i.    Because Satan our enemy wants to destroy us with his top 5 tactics:
1.    Prevent prayer – lead to Self-sufficiency
2.    Prevent unity – lead to Divisions
3.    Prevent commitment – lead to complacency 
4.    Prevent joy – lead to discouragement
5.    Prevent Spiritual Growth – lead to worldly temptations.

b.    Last week our focus was on what it means to put on the Shield of Faith. 
i.    The Shield of Faith represents the sovereign Presence and Power of God. 
ii.    When we put on the shield of faith - we are trusting God and we are Obedient to His Word.

c.    This week our focus in on what it means to put on the Helmet of Salvation.


II.    RELATING THE TEXT:
a.    The Roman soldier’s Helmet was the most costly piece of equipment.  A blow to the head would incapacitate, if not fatally wound the soldier.

b.    Our call to worship – Paul refers to the Helmet as the “Hope” of salvation.

c.    Isaiah pictures God – 59:17 He put on righteousness like a breastplate, And a helmet of salvation on His head; And He put on garments of vengeance for clothing And wrapped Himself with zeal as a mantle.

d.    The Helmet of Salvation assures us of our ultimate victory of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord

e.    Under the helmet of salvation we have the promise of God’s divine protection and deliverance. 

f.    PUTTING ON THE Helmet of Salvation protects your mind where spiritual battles are either won or lost.
g.    We need the helmet to fend off Satan’s deception
Genesis 3:1-5 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed, has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?" The woman said to the serpent, "From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.'" The serpent said to the woman, "You surely will not die! "For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

2 Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.

h.    Putting on our helmet of salvation means we align our WILL with God’s in order to protect us.
Romans 8:6-8 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

III.    APPLICATION
a.    You’ve heard the phrase “keep your head in the game?”
i.    Putting on the helmet of Salvation helps us keep our head in the game. 

2nd Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,

IV.    CONCLUSION: 
a.    How do we keep our head in the game and take every thought captive? We put on the helmet of salvation in these 5 tangible ways:
i.    Memorize Scripture Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

ii.    Pray Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
iii.    Fill Your Mind with Wholesome Things (garbage in-garbage out) Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.

iv.    Speak Wholesome Things Ephesians 4:29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.

v.    Spend Time with Godly People Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

b.    Remember that PUTTING ON THE Helmet of Salvation is  grace from God that protects your mind where spiritual battles are either won or lost. Let’s win this battle!

PRAYER
SONG: You Keep Hope Alive

Ephesians 6:13-17 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
