The Shoes of Peace - #4 of 7
Ephesians 6:13-15 Victory Fellowship
August 31, 2025 - Rev. Roderick Grabski
I. Introduction:
a. OUICK REVIEW: There are four major ideals that we commit to when we put on the belt of truth:
i. Jesus is the ESSENCE of TRUTH
ii. SCRIPTURE is the WORD of TRUTH
iii. The HOLY SPIRIT is the PERSON of TRUTH
iv. The CHURCH is the PILLAR and FOUNDATION of TRUTH
v. If we fail to put on the belt of truth, none of the other 5 pieces of the armor will be as effective and, in fact, will ultimately fail.
b. When we put on the Breastplate of Righteousness, which is the Righteousness of GOD, we do so by FAITH.
i. We acknowledge our need for a Savior
ii. We accept God’s gift in Christ
iii. When we choose to put on the Breastplate of Righteousness, Passions are Redeemed and Redirected. We choose not to harbor and nurture sin
iv. Death loses its sting
c. This week our focus on putting on the Shoes in preparation for the Gospel of Peace.
II. RELATING THE TEXT:
a. We know that it is the little annoyances in life that rob us of our peace.
i. Francesca Battistelli - This Is The Stuff
In the middle of my little mess I forget how big I'm blessed
Might not be what I would choose But this is the stuff You use
b. Putting on the Shoes of Peace means that we trust the Gospel for our lives and we are willing to share that Gospel with others.
c. The belt of truth and the breastplate of righteousness DEFEND/PROTECT us from an attack. The shoes of peace are also equipment for an OFFENSIVE maneuver.
III. APPLICATION:
a. History shows that the attention given to the soldier’s footwear was the secret of the Roman Conquest.
b. In the same manner, we can conquer the peace-stealing conditions in our life by putting on the shoes of peace.
i. They will protect us from anxiety, confusion, doubt, inner turmoil, and lack of confidence.
ii. They will also prepare us to endure the spiritual battle. We will gain a missionary spirit, an evangelical zeal that we must share the Gospel with others.
(1 Peter 3:15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;)
c. Trusting the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ gives us the stability of a sure footing of our faith. We have peace.
i. Positional Peace (Romans 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,)
ii. Experiential Peace (Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.)
IV. CONCLUSION:
a. If you are experiencing a lack of peace in your life, it may well be a call to prayer.
b. We put on the Full Armor of God – including the Shoes of Peace – with prayer.
c. We follow through with Obedience (Philippians 4:9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.)
d. Putting on the shoes of peace will encourage and equip us to live out our Faith.
PRAYER
SONG: Chain of Grace
Ephesians 6:13-15 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.
