Jesus Satisfies

Jesus Satisfies
Proverbs 30:15-16 – Victory Fellowship
October 9, 2022 - Rev. Roderick Grabski

I.    Introduction: Bottomless Pit - something that seems to have no limits, or a situation that will never end.

II.    The Dilemma: (The Insatiable)
a.    Two – Greedy daughters

b.    Three – never satisfied

c.    Four – never say enough
i.    The grave – Sheol
1.    Since 1960 over 30 million people have died from aids epidemic.
2.    From 1816 to present 2.1 million have died from Cholera
3.    Just from war and disease alone we understand that death is not satisfied

ii.    The barren womb
1.    Genesis 30:1 Now when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, she became jealous of her sister; and she said to Jacob, "Give me children, or else I die."

iii.    Earth wanting water
1.    1931-39 The Dust Bowl
2.    Chinese Drought of 1941 – 3 million died.
3.    1987-89 Northern Great Plains (also in mid-fifties) closed Yellowsone for 1st time. Cost over $39 billion.
4.    Since 2011 California has suffered drought. It would take 11 trillion gallons of water to replenish what has already been lost. (enough to cover the entire state of Texas in 3” of water.)

iv.    Fire that consumes
1.    The Great Peshtigo of October 8-14, 1871 in Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula destroyed 3.8 million acres and claimed over 1500 lives.

2.    The Rocky Mountain Fire of August 20-21, 1910 destroyed 3 million acres in Idaho & Montana and claimed 87 lives.

3.    Russia - 2003 when on one day in June satellites recorded 157 fires burning 27,181,000 acres (42,470 square miles) simultaneously. The smoke plume from the fires darkened the skies over Osaka, Japan some 3,000 miles away and soot from the fires was recorded in Seattle, Washington. The fires were mostly set (accidently or intentionally) by illegal timber firms who sell cheap lumber to China.

III.    The Remedy: (Jesus Satisfies)
a.    Greed – Matthew 6:19-21 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. "But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also

b.    Death – John 5:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

c.    Barrenness – John 10:10 "The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly

d.    Thirst – John 6:35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me shall not hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

e.    Consuming fire – Matthew 3:11 "As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire

25:41"Then He will also say to those on His left, 'Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels

IV.    Conclusion:
a.    Only Jesus can satisfy our hungry, thirsty, greedy, and barren souls. We can be filled with God’s consuming fire of the Holy Spirit!

SONG: More Than Enough (Newsboys)

Proverbs 30:15-16: (NKJV)
The leech has two daughters—Give and Give!
There are three things that are never satisfied,
Four never say, “Enough!”:
16 The grave, The barren womb,
The earth that is not satisfied with water—
And the fire never says, “Enough!”
