Childlike Wisdom
Proverbs 3:1-10 – Victory Fellowship
September 11, 2022 - Rev. Roderick Grabski

I.    Introduction:
a.    (Robert Fulghum, All I Really Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten)
Most of what I really need
To know about how to live
And what to do and how to be
I learned in kindergarten.
Wisdom was not at the top
Of the graduate school mountain,
But there in the sand pile at Sunday school.
These are the things I learned:
Share everything.
Play fair.
Don't hit people.
Put things back where you found them.
Clean up your own mess.
Don't take things that aren't yours.
Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
Wash your hands before you eat.
Flush.
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
Live a balanced life -
Learn some and think some
And draw and paint and sing and dance
And play and work every day some.
Take a nap every afternoon.
When you go out into the world,
Watch out for traffic,
Hold hands and stick together.
Be aware of wonder.

II.    Relating the Text: (What The Bible Says)
a.    Keep the Commandments (vv. 1-4)
My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart. 2 If you do this, you will live many years, and your life will be satisfying. 3 Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. 4 Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.
i.    Not just Head knowledge

b.    Trust the Lord’s Guidance (vv. 5-8)
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. 7 Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil. 8 Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones.
i.    God is the Source of all Wisdom

c.    Honor The Lord’s Provision  (vv. 9-10)
9 Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. 10 Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.
i.    Know from Whom your blessing comes

III.    Application: (What We Learn)
