a.    Our words have a powerful effect on us and on others. Power to Heal.

b.    God created by His Words

II.    Relating the Text: (What The Bible Says)
a.    The power of destruction and deliverance is in our words.  9 With their words, the godless destroy their friends, but knowledge will rescue the righteous.
Matthew 12: 36-37 "And I say to you, that every careless word that men shall speak, they shall render account for it in the day of judgment. For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned."

b.    There is great influence over many (vv. 10-11)
. 10 The whole city celebrates when the godly succeed; they shout for joy when the wicked die. 11 Upright citizens are good for a city and make it prosper, but the talk of the wicked tears it apart.

c.    There is a time to speak and a time to keep quiet. 13 A gossip goes around telling secrets, but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence
i.    Do not gossip

d.    (vs 14) Without wise leadership, a nation falls; there is safety in having many advisers.
The words of the wise are important - not only for our success - but our Nation’s as well.

III.    Application:
a.    What do we do?
i.    We ask for the Spirit’s guidance
ii.    We need to let God in our lives so He can change us

b.    Then we can take action! We can be intentional about improving how we use our tongue in conversation.

c.    Social media operates as an extention of our tongue in conversation.
