3)    GOD’S CHOSEN SERVANT: (42:1-9)
a)    Messianic prophesy: (Matthew 12:18-21)

b)    Servant Songs in Isaiah: (42:1-4; 49:1-6; 50:4-9; 52:13-53:12) 

c)    (vv. 1-4) The Creator God is Righteous.

d)    (vv. 5-7) The Creator God calls Israel to a Righteous Purpose.

e)    (vv. 8-9) Our Glorious God’s prophesies are secure.

a)    What are your initial impressions?  Notable differences in various translations? 

9)    WE HAVE A REDEEMER: (44:1-28)
a)    (vv. 1-5) God imparts His Spirit.
i)    Jeshurun is a term of endearment for Israel. It’s also used in Deuteronomy 32:15; 33:5, 26.

b)    (vv. 6-8) No other God but YAHWEH.

c)    (vv. 9-20) The Folly of making Idols.
i)    Ancient texts describing the making of idols confirm such a process.

d)    (vv. 21-23) Israel is the Lord’s Redeemed Servant.

e)    (vv. 24-28) Jerusalem Restored thru Cyrus.
i)    Isaiah named a ruler (Cyrus) over a hundred years before he was born.

ii)    Cyrus is called God’s shepherd, a rare privilege for a pagan King.

iii)    The Cyrus Cylinder (539 BC)

f)    Prophesies fulfilled (586 BC Temple destroyed, 515 BC restored)

a)    Praise God for keeping His promises. (Titus 1:1-2)
