Introduction: The Basics of Faith Series
In the first in this series I shared how important it is that we have a basic understanding of our Obedience to God. Remember that w/o a desire to obey God we can’t properly manage any aspect of our faith.

The next week I shared how important it is that we have a proper perspective of our FEAR – not only of what gives us anxiety, but also FEAR of God.
The third week I shared how important it is that we give our PRAISE to God.
Last week I shared how we can embrace the basics of FORGIVENESS.
Today I want share how we can embrace the basics of INTERCESSION. Praying for others.

The TEST of Intercession: Do we really love God and our neighbor?
Romans 8:33-34 Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies; who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

Because of Jesus, we can be Intercessors
Hebrews 7:17, 25  For it is attested of Him, "YOU ARE A PRIEST FOREVER ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK." …Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

There is POWER in the Name of Jesus
John 14:12-14 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.  "Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son."If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.
John 16:23-24 "In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. "Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.

Engaging the basic practice of Intercession means that we need to intercede/pray on behalf of people who are in bondage:
Personal Intercession / Corporate Intercession

Four most important types of Intercessory prayer:
Healing Prayer
Suffering Prayer
Authoritative Prayer
Radical (Prophetic) Prayer

God wants us to have a heart, not only for Him, but for ALL PEOPLE!
Galatians 6:2 Bear one another's burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.

PRAYER
SONG: Less Like Me

1st Timothy 2:1-6 (NLT) I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. 5 For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. 6 He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.
