a.    Discuss initial observations & translation differences

b.    Compare verses 8:5, 37 & 9:5 in various translations including KJV

III.    THE MINISTRY OF PHILIP (8:4-40):
a.    Conversion of the Samaritans (vv. 4-25)
•    Signs and Wonders 
•    Great JOY (word is used 22 times in Luke’s gospel) 
•    Simon Magus – the man with divine Great Power
•    Peter and John – “come on down” (see Luke 9:51-56)
1.    Lay hands, pray for them to receive the Holy Spirit (2nd Blessing?)
2.    “Simony” (see J.B. Phillips translation) eis apwleia
3.    “I won’t pray - you do it for me?” (see John 2:23-25; James 2:19)

b.    Conversion of an Ethiopian Eunuch (vv. 26-40)
•    A divine appointment – led by an Angel
•    The Jewish God in Ethiopia?

IV.    Read / Listen / Discuss ACTS 9:1-31
a.    Discuss initial observations & translation differences

V.    SAUL’S CONVERSION (9:1-31):
a.    Persecutor on a Mission (vv. 1-2). See also Philippians 3:6.

b.    Saul Meets Jesus (vv. 3-9). Related also in 22:6-11 & 26:12-18.
•    Damascus: world’s 2nd oldest city in existence. Tarsus is oldest
•    Blinded by the Light (see 2nd Corinthians 4:3-7)
c.    Saul meets Ananias and Is Baptized (vv. 10-19a)

d.    Saul the Preacher (vv. 19b-30)
•    See Galatians 1:11-24 for context
•    In Damascus (many days = 3 years)
•    In Jerusalem
•    To Tarsus by way of Caesarea (stays put for 8-10 years)

VI.    THE CHURCH FLOURISHES (9:31):
a.    Remember Acts 1:8 in light of our Study Today. 
“…but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."  

VII.    APPLICATION
•    God can do amazing things through a Christian willing to serve Him.
•    Every believer should be ready to explain the Gospel.
•    God may give us a Divine appointment anytime. Be ready to perceive it when it happens.
•    Do not minimize the Old Testament. Learn and study so you can find Christ in the OT as often as possible. 
•    God can covert the heart and life of the worst sinner.
