IV.    THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES (vv. 2-13)
a.    Wind - Fire – Evidence (compare Isaiah 66:15-18)

b.    Tongues and the Tower of Babel (see Genesis 11:1-9)
The "gift of tongues" (or glossolalia) is a supernatural ability described in the Bible, particularly in Acts and 1 Corinthians, allowing someone to speak in an unknown language, either an actual human language not learned (like at Pentecost) or a divine, angelic, or private prayer language understood only by God or through interpretation, serving to edify the speaker or church, with different Christian traditions viewing its purpose and operation, including whether it's for missionary work, personal devotion, or public worship.

    Jesus is the Fulfillment of Old Testament Prophesy.

    Jesus is the Risen Lord. (vv. 29-32)
    Jesus is the Final Authority for all Humanity. (vs. 33)
VI.    THE RESULTS – Birth of the Church (vv. 37-47)
a.    Marks of Apostolic Preaching (continued)
    Jesus is the Standard of Righteousness and Holiness. (vs. 38)
    Jesus Baptizes with the Holy Spirit. (vv. 38-39)
    The Church (and God’s Kingdom) increases when this message is preached and believed. (vs. 41)

b.    The CHURCH is the PEOPLE who experience Repentance of sins, Baptism, and the Gift of the Holy Spirit. (vv. 37-41)

c.    They experience and practice koinwnia (Koinonia)
•    They were a Learning Church (vv. 42-43)
•    They were a Loving Church (vv. 44-45)
•    They were a Worshipping Church
•    They were an Evangelistic Church

VII.    APPLICATION
a.    The promise of the Holy Spirit is for all believers.

b.    Healthy churches give attention and priority to teaching, fellowship, worship, prayer, and witness.

c.    The New Testament flows directly from the Old Testament, affirming that Jesus is the Messiah.

d.    Fellowship with other Christians is beneficial and enjoyable!
