#3: Give Up - Sickness w/o
Seeking Prayer and Anointing
Acts 9:31-35 (36-42)   Victory Fellowship
March 23, 2025 - Rev. Roderick Grabski

Introduction: My sermon focus in these six weeks before Resurrection Sunday will suggest attitudes or conditions that, with the power of the Holy Spirit, we can and should give up. Not just for 40 days.

We need to cultivate a habit of not doing these things:

Worrying Over Things We Cannot Control
Lying
Enduring Sickness w/o Prayer & Anointing
Holding a Grudge (Unforgiving)
Prideful Arrogance

I.    MATCH in Acts – Fire of the Pentecost
a.    Miraculous Healing
b.    Attracts an Audience
c.    Teaching / Preaching on the matter
d.    Charges are brought
e.    Help / Deliverance from God

II.    Relate The Text
a.    (e-nay-us) Aeneas – paralyzed for 8 years

36 Now in Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha (which translated [in Greek] is called Dorcas); this woman was abounding with deeds of kindness and charity, which she continually did.

37 And it came about at that time that she fell sick and died; and when they had washed her body, they laid it in an upper room. 38 And since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, having heard that Peter was there, sent two men to him, entreating him, "Do not delay to come to us."

39 And Peter arose and went with them. And when he had come, they brought him into the upper room; and all the widows stood beside him weeping, and showing all the tunics and garments that Dorcas used to make while she was with them.

40 But Peter sent them all out and knelt down and prayed, and turning to the body, he said, "Tabitha, arise." And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up. 41 And he gave her his hand and raised her up; and calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive. 42 And it became known all over Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.
b.    Tabitha – resuscitated from death
i.    RESULTS – many Believed and Turned to the Lord

III.    Why does God Heal?
a.    God is Loving and Compassionate.
b.    God wants His Kingdom to Increase.
c.    God wants to bring Glory to His Name.

IV.    Application: Do you believe the Bible is True?
a.    Then…God is a God of Healing.
b.    And…Jesus healed and gave Power to Heal.
c.    And…We are still the Church of Acts.

V.    Conclusion:
a.    LIVE IN THE POWER and AUTHORITY OF THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST!

b.    In that Power, we can and we should GIVE UP being sick - without seeking Prayer and Anointing!

Come for prayer and anointing for healing.
SONG: In Jesus’ Name

ACTS 9:31-35 NLT
31 The church then had peace throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria, and it became stronger as the believers lived in the fear of the Lord. And with the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, it also grew in numbers. 32 Meanwhile, Peter traveled from place to place, and he came down to visit the believers in the town of (Lid-dah) Lydda. 33 There he met a man named (e-nay-us) Aeneas, who had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years. 34 Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you! Get up, and roll up your sleeping mat!” And he was healed instantly. 35 Then the whole population of Lydda and Sharon saw Aeneas walking around, and they turned to the Lord.
