#6 - Playing in a Foursome
Colossians 4:5-9 – Victory Fellowship
October 6, 2024 - Rev. Roderick Grabski

I.    Introduction: More Fun in a Group

The bride came down the aisle and when she reached the altar the groom and 3 of his groomsmen were standing there with their golf bags and clubs at their side. She said: “What are you all doing with your golf clubs here?” He looked her right in the eye and said, ” Well, this isn’t going to take all day, is it?”
a.    Being a Team player (see Scripture passage to v.18) –Tychicus, Onesimus, Aristarchus, Marcus, Barnabus, Justus, Epaphras, Luke, Demas, Nymphas, & Archippus

II.    The Team Aspect of Christianity –like playing in a Foursome, we enjoy being together
A Sunday school teacher asked her children on the way to service, "And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?" One little girl replied, "Because people are sleeping."
a.    The Benefits of Fellowship:
i.    Fellowship helps you grow
ii.    Fellowship keeps you accountable
iii.    Fellowship encourages you
iv.    Fellowship makes life more fun

b.    Increasing the Fellowship - Share your Faith!
i.    Tell people you are a Christian
ii.    Invite them to Church or Bible Study
iii.    Speak to them about how your Christian faith and the bible helped you– with wisdom and grace, seasoned w/salt.
A child asked his father, "How were people born?" So his father said, "Adam and Eve made babies, then their babies became adults and made babies, and so on." The child then went to his mother, asked her the same question and she told him, "We were monkeys then we evolved to become like we are now." The child ran back to his father and said, "You lied to me!" His father replied, "No, your mom was talking about her side of the family."

iv.    Be a living example
In a Catholic school cafeteria, a nun places a note in front of a pile of apples, "Only take one. God is watching." Further down the line is a pile of cookies. A little boy makes his own note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples."

III.    Conclusion
a.    Living out our faith is a corporate endeavor. God never meant for there to be “Lone Ranger” Christians.

PRAYER
SONG: Truth Be Told (Crowder)

Colossians 4:5-9 (NLT)
5 Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity.6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned, as it were, with salt, so that you may know how you should respond to each person.
7 As to all my affairs, Tychicus, our beloved brother and faithful servant and fellow bond-servant in the Lord, will bring you information. 8 For I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know about our circumstances and that he may encourage your hearts; 9 and with him Onesimus, our faithful and beloved brother, who is one of your number. They will inform you about the whole situation here.
