I.    Introduction:
a.    Who do we call in times of trouble?
i.    Police?
ii.    Fire dept. or Paramedics?
iii.    Emergency room?
iv.    God?

II.    Relating the text:
a.    Keep in Context: Vs 14 and Jer. 29:11 & Romans 8:28
14 Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.

11 'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.

28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

b.    Trouble will come (vs. 13)
At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or command grasshoppers to devour your crops, or send plagues among you.

c.    God to the Rescue
12 Then one night the LORD appeared to Solomon and said, “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this Temple as the place for making sacrifices.

d.    Acknowledge our Brokenness (Job)

e.    Have a Sense of Urgency

f.    Return to Holiness (Jonah)

III.    Conclusion:
a.    Turning our nation back to God begins with repentant prayer – First with us and then for the Nation.

SONG: Lift Your Head Weary Sinner

2nd Chronicles 7:11-14 NKJV
11 Thus Solomon finished the house of the Lord and the king’s house; and Solomon successfully accomplished all that came into his heart to make in the house of the Lord and in his own house. 12 Then the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him: “I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. 13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
