Psalm 95:1-8
God is Great, God is Good

God is Great, God is Good
Psalm 95:1-8   Victory Fellowship
September 13, 2026 - Rev. Roderick Grabski

Psalm 95 contains 5 steps to remind us that God is Great, and God is Good, and thus strengthen our spiritual life.
#1 - INVITATION
1 Come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.

#2 - ENGAGEMENT
2 Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him.

#3 - EXHAULTATION

3 For the LORD is a great God, a great King above all gods.
4 He holds in his hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains. 5 The sea belongs to him, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land, too.

#4 - ADORATION
6 Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the LORD our maker, 7a for he is our God.

#5 - EMPOWERMENT
7b We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care.                                                                                 If only you would listen to his voice today! 8 The LORD says, “Don’t harden your hearts as Israel did at Meribah, as they did at Massah in the wilderness.

Do not harden your hearts. As Psalm 95 contains 5 steps to strengthen our spiritual life, I have observed 5 things that will hinder our spiritual growth, hinder our faith, and actually are a roadblock to loving God:
1)    Trying to please everyone. When we do not challenge their views we strengthen their resolve and actually weaken our faith.
2)    Fearing Change. This is a major reason people are not healed. They actually fear the change that freedom would give them. If we can’t trust God to be our future help, we can’t trust him to be present in our time of need.
3)    Living in the Past. Maybe we won’t let go of past behaviors. Maybe we have but are plagued with the notion that perhaps God won’t forgive us. Maybe we can’t forgive a past hurt.
4)    Putting Yourself Down. The devil loves this one. When the devil reminds us of our past, we must remind him of his future and just who we are to Christ.
5)    Overthinking. This involves wanting to know all the answers. It is based on knowledge, not faith.
If we practice any or all of these things, our faith will suffer. The real damage may come when we actually harden our hearts toward God.
