Actively Praise the Lord
Psalm 100:1-5 - Victory Fellowship

I. Introduction:
a. Two Questions:
i. To Whom is the Psalm addressed?
ii. Of Whom does it speak?
II. HOW we Praise the LORD (vv. 1-4)
a. Shout Joyfully to the LORD (vs. 1)
i. (my Grandma call “Birdie”)
ii. Hebrew literally means to “split the ear with sound” Shout for all you’re worth in a verbal expression of thankfulness.
iii. Command is for ALL THE EARTH.
iv. When was the last time we did that for God? I thought so.
b. Serve the LORD with Gladness (vs.2)
i. Some translations say “worship.” Our spiritual act of service.
c. Come Before Him with Joyful Singing (vs. 2)
i. God inhabits His praise (explain).
ii. Sing with a joyful spirit.
d. Know that the LORD Himself is GOD (vs. 3)
i. Elohim – plural name for a monotheistic faith – the Trinity.
ii. More than our Savior – Lord of our life. Our sustenance!
iii. Our Creator – we are His plan and He is not done yet.
iv. We belong to God – His sheep, His possession. Not just the Jews.
v. We are to submit to God.
e. Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving and His Courts with Praise (vs. 4)
i. How do we do that today?
f. Give Thanks to Him (vs. 4)
2nd Tim 3:1-5 You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that.
g. Bless His Name (vs. 4)
i. barak = to kneel. His name is higher than any other.
III. WHY we Praise the LORD (vs. 5)
a. God is Good – All the Time!
b. God’s lovingkindness (unfailing love) is everlasting!
c. He is faithful forever!
IV. Application:
a. We are commanded to be imitators of God
i. (Eph. 5:1; 1st Peter 1:15-16)
Ephesians 5:1,2: Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you, and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.
1st Peter 1:15-16: …but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY."
b. Count your many blessing as you give praise to God – at home, in church, and in your daily activities!

Psalm 100 (NAS95) 1 Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing. 3 Know that the LORD Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. 4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. 5 For the LORD is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting And His faithfulness to all generations.
