Do-Gooders
Titus 3:1-7 (8-11) – Victory Fellowship
September 3, 2023 - Rev. Roderick Grabski

I.    Introduction:
a.    Chub Dreurey would always say, “America, Bless God!”

b.    Who we were before we knew Jesus and how we are now is different. In Christ, now we should naturally want to bless God and do what is good to all.

II.    Relating the Text: Pastor Titus, remind them to…
a.    Doing Good to All People (Titus 3:1-7)
i.    Do Good to the Government through Submission
(v. 1) law abiding citizen.
Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient, always ready to do what is good.

ii.    Do Good To All By Not Gossiping and Quarreling. (if someone gossips to you about a person, they gossip to others about you)

iii.    Do Good To All By Being Gentle (v. 2b)
And By Showing True Humility (2c)

iv.    Do Good To All Because We Were In The Same Boat (v. 3)
Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other.

v.    Do Good To All Because Of God’s Kindness And Love (v. 4)

vi.    Do Good To All Because Of God’s Mercy (v. 5) (undeserved – that’s why its called mercy)
5 he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.

vii.    Do Good To All Because God Is Generous And Kind (vv. 6-7)
6 He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. 7 Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.

b.    Doing Good as Christians (Titus 3:8-11).
i.    Do Good As Christians Because God Is The Example For Us (v. 8).
8 This is a trustworthy saying, and I want you to insist on these teachings so that all who trust in God will devote themselves to doing good. These teachings are good and beneficial for everyone.

ii.    Do Good as Christians by Profitable Discussions, Not Useless Ones (v 9).
9 Do not get involved in foolish discussions about spiritual pedigrees or in quarrels and fights about obedience to Jewish laws. These things are useless and a waste of time.

iii.    Do Good As Christians By Patience With The Divisive--To A Point (vv 10-11)
10 If people are causing divisions among you, give a first and second warning. After that, have nothing more to do with them. 11 For people like that have turned away from the truth, and their own sins condemn them.

III.    Conclusion:
a.    Grace goes with Obedience. That’s why we should want to do good after Jesus Saves us.

b.    We’re saved by grace but our desire and effort to do what is good demonstrates that “it took.”
