Abba Sunday – Father’s Day

I.    Introduction:
a.    Paul reminds his readers that they are Children of God –We call God, Abba, Father.

Galatians 3:26: For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 2:14-15: Do all things without grumbling or disputing; so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world

II.    We are God's Children because of His Love and our Faith.
14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.

III.    As God's Children We Practice Righteousness.
a.    If you are a Child of God on the Inside, it will also be evident on the Outside.
12 Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. 13 For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live.

IV.    Only Christians Are Children of God
14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. 15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” 16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.

V.    God the Father Loves the Whole World but the Whole World doesn't Know or Love the True Father in Heaven.

a.    We know Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.

b.    And Jesus has entrusted the Christian Church, made up entirely of God's Children, to share the Gospel. We share the Gospel in Word & Deed.
